MF: BIG TQ With Feathery Inlay

"Stunning" falls short of describing this 2.5" deep turquoise centerpiece with its bold matrix patterns. The 2.5" pendant's feathery edges glisten so brightly with silver and artfully applied abalone and turquoise inlay that it's difficult to tell where one ends and the other begins.

Signed "Libertad", Michele Foster's trademark, this pendant is truly representative of Ms. Foster's professional quality and remarkable creativity. Our Large sized 8Ball feels privileged to share space on such a glamorous jewel!

MF: Double Jasper Artistry

I've always said I'm a fan of nice clean geometrics rather than "free-form" shapes. But, then, I was referring to normal flat pendants - Michele Foster's jeweled sculptures are anything but normal!

Ms. Foster's vivid imagination lends entirely new meaning to the term "free-form". Her designs are fearless, with dips and swirls, flat and round surfaces- allowing the natural form of shell or stone to shape the design- sometimes standing components on end!

This piece, 3" from point to point, employs two forms of jasper with our medium sized "Dave" stretched across Ocean Jasper, his back legs sheltered beneath a shell sun-shade.

We just had to show you views from every angle! Whoops- I didn't photograph the back which would show you that this piece has both bail for hanging and pin for wearing as a broach.

No matter how you interpret it, some greyhound somewhere will benefit because Michele Foster's lovely pendant featuring "Runner" was purchased here. It's a win-win-win situation.

Including our usual 1" map pin for sizing just seemed to reduce the glamor of this extravagant pendant/broach, so here are some measurements:

The rectangular stone has 3-dimensional inclusions in a clear quartz backed with sterling, and measures 2.25" X .875" all by itself.

The entire pendant/broach, including it's curvy shell and citrine adornments, measures 3.5" in height and is 3" wide.

MF: Get To The Point....

Dainty and elegant in size, yet boldly spectacular in design and color. Michele Foster's combinations of lapis, turquoise and spiny oyster are accented by silver strips cast with lumps and bumps to catch the light- they almost look like pave'.

Notice the doubly inlaid bail- it draws my attention every time. Of course each piece is hallmarked with Ms. Foster's initials.

Oops- I forgot the pin for size guidance: the pendant's triangle (not icluding the bail) measures 2", where each earring's triangle measures 1.5".

We'll sell them separately but they really should go together!

8Ball As He Should Be

8Ball, in his XL size, is such a lovely and typical greyhound form, he should be the focal point of any pendant large enough to do him justice.

That's exactly what he gets here, on a 2.75" wide natural slab of Lapis Lazuli with a simple and unique bail of sterling silver creating his own aura.

He'll turn heads, thats for certain.

D. Umpleby #3

We purchased only 5 pieces from this young Arizona artist and the first two sold within days of our adding them to the website.

This one, 3.5" in height, is the most spectacular of them all. David Umpleby's creation in Lepidolite and Amazonite, , adorned with our medium sized "Dave", is suspended from an 18" strand of Amazonite beads. With a million vendors offering beads at the Tucson show, I wandered around with David's designs in hand to find just the right shade to compliment his design.

JH: Turquoise Cuff

Fortunately for you, for me, and for greyhounds, this huge cuff was on sale in Johnson's showroom- or the price would have been much higher. I snapped it up without a second thought!

Smooth and shiny sterling all around, any lines or darkened areas are mere shadows from lighting. The turquoise stone measures 2" across and provides a comfy cushion for our XL 8Ball.

Lacking Restraint

I admit it. Sometimes I lack restraint in shopping through so many tempting jewels. This is one I just could not resist.

1.5" X 1" and 1/4" in shiny silver framed thickness, the stone is perfectly clear quartz embedded with olive crystals of Epidot. I knew it would make Flower Girl appear to be standing in the woods.

Not too big, not too little, and quality constructed by Starborne, this pendant is the epitome of the clean geometric lines of my personal preference. It's truly fine jewelry.

MF: Art Worth Wearing

These extravagant sculptural pieces (this one being the first of three we have to show you) are originally priced upwards of $700 retail. I scramble to each of the San Mateo shows to see what pieces Ms. Foster might have reduced as I drool over the exotic new jewels in the display cabinet. I hold my breath hoping that there will be one or two we can nearly afford and still allow room to benefit greyhounds.

This particular pendant is based around a 1.5" X 1" block of clear quartz with floating metallic inclusions, set upon shell, with a frilly upstanding half circle of delicate shell below it, curved around a tiny citrine.

It's truly a remarkable piece- especially with our new "Runner" fitted gracefully into the curvature of the shell. Whether or not it's your cup of tea, we know you'll admire Ms. Foster's unfettered imagination!

MF: Betty w/Feathers!

Even Ms. Foster could not identify this stone for me. Her choices, it was explained to me, lie not in the monetary value of the stones she chooses, but in the interest each stone offers in color and pattern.

This one particularly fascinated me since the curves of abalone, each set in silver, resembled "feathers" (my own vision, not necessarily Ms. Foster's). Note the tiny triangle of peridot. You'll see the artist's hallmark on the back, along with a pin for wearing as a broach, should you prefer.

MF: Big Dave on Agate

She doesn't, really, it just seems sometimes as though Michele Foster creates these extravagant pieces just for our dogs, so perfect is the fit!

This amazing agate is trimmed with inlay of onyx, Mother of Pearl, and fancy jasper- look closely to see the intricacy of the inlay and how those natural colors enhance the beauty of the agate. Stunning.

Three inches across at its widest point, the pendant's solid silver backing has a pin so that it can be worn as a broach as well. Naturally it bear's Ms. Foster's trademark signature: "Libertad".

MF: Bodacious Bead!

Well what else might you call this gorgeous and intricately inlaid bauble with a basis of of zebra jasper?

At its widest point, the bead measures 1.5" with a height of about 1". The back is solid, shiny sterling and bear's Ms. Foster's Libertad signature. Our Medium Sized Dave adds the greyt adornment.

This unusually large 10 mm neck ring fits the interior curve of the pendant to perfection- apparently made for one another. They actually weren't, though, and you may prefer something else, so we've priced them separately.

MF: Seashells by the Seashore

If you live by the sea.... or if you've ever dreamed of living by the sea.... this magnificent jewel by Michele Foster is meant for you.

Ocean Jasper with branches of abalone surrounding the sea shell, a glimmer of a peridot colored stone, and, of course, Davie, all combine to make this piece a true collector's item.

Another masterpiece by Michele Foster- a gorgeous agate reminiscent of clouds, surrounded by intricate inlay of fancy jasper, Mother Of Pearl, and spiny oyster.

2.75" in diameter, the pendant has a pin on the back to allow you to wear it as a broach, too. Double dogs, an original design by Mary Beth Arthur of Marial Whippets, are of sterling and bronze.

Mookite & Citrine

Typical of many Starborne pieces: big and flashy!

The large angularly cut citrine in this pendant is clear and pale gold, bringing out the yellow accents in the mookite. I seemed to fit Flower Girl to a T!

Including the fixed bail, this pendant measures 3" in height!

Taureg Treasure

Another special item from "Made In The Motherland", a one-person company whose owner shops the Tucson trade show for stones to carry to Taureg tribesman. These native artisans then design their own pieces around the stones which she brings back to the US to sell, allowing tribesmen to support their families with their artistic skills. An admirable effort we enjoy supporting- especially since the results are so appealing!

This particular 18" necklace employs a black & white oval of sardonyx to which we've added "Dave".

Just imagine this handmade necklace against a plain black sweater- or with your all-purpose, little black dress- it's all you'll need to draw attention!
