Greyhound Rescuers? Adoption Coordinators?
Medical Transporters? Nursing Home? Sanctuary?

Since 2000, Bluff City’s Cora and Tom Marro have shown compassion for the underdog- those greyhounds requiring extraordinary care. At this time, fourteen special needs greyhounds reside in their home. Seven of them are under treatment for seizures - you’ll see images of some of the others below or in our newsletter/Facebook page.

Bluff City accepts unadaptable greyhounds from farms and local adoption groups. Some require medical treatment which transforms them into adoptable dogs and often transports them to the 4 Legs 4 Hounds program at Ohio State University- 525 miles from their home. In order that the dogs remain close to medical care after surgeries, Bluff City works with Central Ohio Greyhound Rescue for fostering and placement into Forever Homes.

Some of these greyhounds have permanent birth defects and find the special care they require in Cora & Tom’s home for as long as they live. Pips and Peggy both arrived at Bluff City in 2013 and grew up together since puppyhood.

Not the sort of people to blow their own horn, Bluff City has no website, no Facebook page, and holds no fundraisers for themselves while contributing to innumerable greyhound fundraisers with Cora’s mastery of sewing.

Many of you will recognize Cora’s name from her association with the 4L4H Program at Ohio State and her participation in a multitude of greyhound medical conversations offering advice and experience. In the 18 years they’ve been working with these special needs greyhounds, there is little Cora & Tom haven’t seen and dealt with - all at their own personal expense.

It’s time SOMEbody blew their horn! 32 special greyhounds at Rainbow Bridge provide happy memories for these folks, and their current 14 create new memories every day. This raffle is being held not only to provide Bluff City Greyhounds with a little financial help, but to honor two friends with hearts as big as a greyhound's.
